We are dedicated to helping provide girls with the tools necessary to become independent, empowered leaders in society. We believe through equal access to education, we can change the narrative of girls' role in the home and the workforce and promote self-reliant individuals. With the help of books, bikes, school supplies, menstrual products, and confidence, girls are equipped with what they need to conquer their future.
The inspiration for Change the World for Girls originates in Girl Scouts, specifically the service project I chose to fulfill for my Gold Award. I traveled to Tanzania to implement a project, “Books and Bikes for Africa”, I had been working on for two years. I focused on the lack of access to education and transportation in Africa, and the lack of awareness in my community of global issues. I collected over 200 books, created a library in a school in Tanzania that had none, and remodeled the school constructing new desks, bookshelves, and windows. Additionally, at another school, I educated teenage girls on menstrual health and provided them with reusable pads. We also donated books to that school to start their own library.
I learned from my Gold Award that I wanted to narrow my target audience to girls, broaden my geographical scale, and address issues beyond books and bikes such as independence, reproductive health, and leadership. Thus, I decided to focus on the ways in which I could give girls the opportunities to succeed in the world despite their gender.
Our project is driven by the mission to provide girls with the tools necessary to become independent, successful leaders in society. The CORE Foundation supported my efforts and has agreed to help me embark on my journey to build a team of leaders and volunteers to enact positive change for girls around the globe. Girls are met with countless barriers globally, restricted in opportunities because of their gender. We believe through education on Growth, Independence, Reproductive health, Leadership, and Scholarship, girls can surpass these boundaries and develop into strong, influential leaders that can change the world.
